A tree for a good cause

Nov 10, 2015

A little boy tries to save the world! Sounds like the beginning of a fairy tale? It's reality!

The idea came to Felix Finkbeiner in 2007 during a school presentation, and so the then 9-year-old founded the organization "Plant-for-the-Planet," which aims to plant one million trees in every country in the world and thus halt climate change through CO₂ offsetting. In 2011, Felix had the opportunity to present his vision as a speaker at the UN General Assembly, and within a very short time, children and young people from over 100 countries followed his lead, striving to implement the three-point plan they developed. One of these points: planting 1 trillion new trees by 2020. This would be possible if every company worldwide donated 0.1 percent of its gross annual revenue to Plant-for-the-Planet. Today, over 17,000 ambassadors, under the slogan "Stop talking. Start planting," are calling on heads of state, business leaders, and citizens worldwide to support the project.

In 2012, Lars Diedrichs met Felix at the annual MMM Congress in Munich, and since then, DMV Diedrichs Markenvertrieb has also been a supporter of this global movement. We, too, donate 0.1 per mille of our annual revenue, and it's a truly good feeling to know that we're contributing to the effort to stop climate change and thus ensuring that the world, as we know it, can continue to exist, not only for ourselves and our children but also for future generations. As a symbolic gesture for the annual donation made by DMV Diedrichs Markenvertrieb, Lars Diedrichs was able to plant a virtual tree at plant-for-the-planet.org , which will now grow into a real tree somewhere in the world.
